MKF, 방탄소년단 Shout Out to Minnesota, and Other Updates

Well, it’s been quite awhile, hasn’t it? As you can all assume, school has started up again, and I’m finally working on my courses for my major, which are basically all writing intensive courses, which requires a lot of reading as well, hence no spare time. BUT, I have made some time today, and I will try and catch up on a lot of things.

Firstly, I’d like to apologize for missing out on Shuffle-It Sunday and Watch-It Wednesday this week for anyone who was looking forward to it. Of course, I will do my utmost to post them next week, with 15 songs for Shuffle-It Sunday.

Second, I have started to fall back on reviews again, but I will also do my best to catch up again. I’m not too far behind yet, so please expect some new posts going up soon!

And, finally, the most important and exciting part of this post today; Minnesota had their first KPOP Festival (to the best of my knowledge; if we’re wrong, please correct us) just this past Wednesday, September 10! Unfortunately, despite the Minnesota KPOP Festival (MKF) being right at the heart of the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (Minneapolis) campus, which is where I’m currently an undergrad at, I failed to attend. It was held at the Coffman Memorial Union building, which is kind of where I live during the school year (I work at the bookstore there, and it’s my favorite place to study at during the evening). We would like to give a big round of applause to the Minnesota KPOP Dance Crew (MKDC) for hosting the event, and from what I’ve heard, it was very successful. Unfortunately, due to the limit of space, there was a cap off of 1000 entries. I’m not sure if 1000 fans were in attendance (it sure felt like it) but here’s to hoping that they take this as a boost to their confidence and host another one next year, and make it even bigger! I can’t guarantee I will make it, but I will put in the best effort to attend!

We want to give an even bigger thank you to the president of MKDC for their effort in giving the fans a gift and BigHit Entertainment for making it happen through a shout out video via Bangtan Boys (BTS). Most KPOP idols probably don’t even know that Minnesota exists and many would have probably ignored us, but I hope BigHit Entertainment and BTS knows how much it means to us fans here in Minnesota that they took 2 minutes of their time just to send us a video. Thank you MKDC president (I will find out your name eventually), and thank you BigHit Entertainment and BTS! You guys forever have our support!

Oh, and I thought I was over this emotional fangirl phase because I’ve been in KPOP since the Shinhwa and S.E.S days. I usually don’t fret over boy bands, but, after KCON, I’ve started to realize that BTS is doing something to me. They definitely have their own touch, but sometimes, I feel like I’m seeing a younger version of 1TYM and Big Bang in them, which are my two ultimate KPOP boy groups of all time… 야! 방탄소년단! 왜 나를 시험해?! 헷갈리게 하지마!

Here’s the shout out video that many fans will come to cherish here, in Minneapolis, Minnesota! And you’ve got to love their wonderful pronunciation! Once again, thank you MKDC for the wonderful event and your efforts to give us fans a memorable gift!
