Shuffle-It Sunday

Enjoy this week’s list, and I hope you find something new to listen to! Let’s get started!

1. T-Ara – 사랑놀이 (Love Game/Keep Out)

This song is so addicting! It’s been awhile since I’ve listened to this, and it makes me feel bouncy, although I’m sure there lyrics are the complete opposite of what I’m feeling.

2. G-Dragon – 니가 뭔데 WHO YOU?

I am so excited for YG’s new hip-hop project, especially since GD was the first participant to be revealed. Oh, my YG feels! This song has come up quite a lot for Shuffle-It Sunday, so I don’t need to address how beautiful it is.

3. Fahrenheit – 傻傻的勇氣 (Foolish Courage)

I think this group is still active as singers, although they’ve all ventured into acting. And this song is so addicting to listen to; it has this motivational tune to it and I love these kinds of songs.

4. BEAST – Shock

Honestly, BEAST has come so far, and I love these boys. They’re so versatile, going from dance track Good Luck to ballad 12:30. Their older songs will always have a special place in my heart too. Every day, SHOCK!

5. 2NE1 – Good to You

Their voices really ring out in this song, and I just love the sound. Crush was such an awesome album. YG was just hitting the jackpot with every release this year. I bought the entire album on iTunes for all their releases so far this year, except for Akdong Musician, where I only bought their title songs.

6. FT Island – You’ll Be in My Heart

This is such a beautiful song, and sounds like it should be used in a k-drama. Lee Hong Ki’s voice does wonders.

7. Loveholic – Sad Story

THIS SONG! I mentioned it during last week’s Shuffle-It Sunday. I could listen to it forever! There’s so much emotion and I always want to cry when I hear this song.

8. Bangtan Boys – Let Me Know

This is honestly a really good song. I love the soft singing they do, and I will always look forward to what BTS has to offer in the future. Outside of YG, they are the group I continuously support, although I’m a bit late in the game.

9. BEAST – Fiction

This, too, is a beautiful song. I’m also a really big fan of Park Bo Young, so if she’s featured in anything, I tend to automatically fall in love with it. Go BEAST!

10. IU – Marshmallow

Help me with this song! I thoroughly enjoyed this more than I probably should have when I first listened to it. I don’t like cutesy things, and aegyo really frustrates me. I can’t find anything cute if you’re over the age of 10. But this song just really stuck, and I have to agree that IU did cute right for someone her age; add in humor, and it’s tolerable.

Alright! We’ve reached the end of the list this week! There’s quite a bit of repeats, but I still hope you guys found something new to listen to, or maybe took a trip down memory lane.

Shuffle-It Sunday

I know I missed Shuffle-It Sunday last week, but to give enough time to finish our Spontaneous Saturday in a part two of Spontaneous Sunday, I’ll be sticking to our original 10 songs. Enjoy the list!

1. Infinite – 3분의 1 (1/3)

2. Big Bang – Still Alive

It’s been so long since I last listened to this song! I forgot how much I liked this song. I think this album was after all the issues that Big Bang went through, and they came out winners in the end, so this song hits home so much more. “BIG BANG IS STILL ALIVE!” And I don’t think they’ll be leaving any time soon. They all know they have a strong hold in the music field, no matter how old they get.

3. G-Dragon ft Lydia Paek – R.O.D

G-Dragon’s Coup D’Etat album was just over the top! I loved every single song off of it! If I had to exclude the title songs, then this would be the one at the top. I never really followed Lydia Paek, but this song really got me into her. I loved her rendition of Taeyang’s Eyes, Nose, Lips as well.

4. Wilber Pan ft Zhang Xianzi – 不得不愛 (Cannot Not Love)

I can’t speak Chinese and I only know the commonly heard phrases from songs and dramas. I love this song and I always sing to it when it comes on. Can’t help it; it’s a song that does that to me. I think it’s beautiful.

5. Snow Patrol – What if the Storm Ends

This isn’t the full song, but it was because of this trailer that I immediately went in search of this song. My sister and sister-in-law asked about it too, and since I tend to be really good at finding a song, they asked me. It left a really lasting first impression on me. I knew who Snow Patrol was because I always sing one of their songs when ever I karaoke, but I didn’t really listen to their other music.

6. Ailee – Rainy Day

No other words needed for this song; it was beautiful and I can feel something with it.

7. Bangtan Boys – 하루만 (Just One Day)

I’m so used to BTS going hard in all their songs and being filled with charisma that this slower track threw me for a loop. I also think I talked about this song at the start of our blog, but I can’t be too sure. But anyway, this smooth track gives me some feels that I would rather not have when a majority of the members are younger than me. I’m still adamant about not being a noona fan. Anyway, that was off topic. I love this song. It’s not on my repeat playlist, but it’s definitely a tune I let play through when I occasionally shuffle through my iTunes, like this.

8. B.A.P. – 1004 (Angel)

This song from B.A.P really surprised me. I was not expecting this for their comeback. This is like the in-between for their tracks like One Shot and What are you Doing. It was definitely beautiful, as usual, and it could very well be one of my favorite B.A.P tracks.

9. Pink ft Nate Reuss – Just Give me a Reason

This song surprised me when I realized that I really liked the vocals here. And the beat is nice too. The emotion is very much present here. I wish Pink would sing more songs that relayed her emotions like this.

10. 4Minute –  거울아 거울아  (Mirror Mirror)

There are a lot of songs that seem to surprise me. I think I have a set preference, but sometimes some songs just get you. 4Minute is no exception. I’m not too big on their recent stuff, but when they released songs from HuH to Volume Up, I was in love with them!

Well, we’ve reached our end for this week’s Shuffle-It Sunday! Hope you all found something new to listen to and enjoyed the list this time! Spontaneous Sunday will be going up within the day, so keep on the look out for that!

Shuffle-It Sunday

Although I’m not missing Shuffle-It Sunday this week, due to a busy schedule, I had to miss Spontaneous Saturday yesterday, and there was so much to talk about too! You will definitely hear from us about Spontaneous Saturday this week though, along with a Transformation Tuesday.

Enjoy the list and I hope you all find something new to listen to!

1. Wang Lee Hom – Can You Feel My World

2. TTS – Baby Steps

This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Funny thing is that it introduced me to the original English version. I can’t help but feel sad though. Every time I hear an SNSD song now, I can’t help but feel different, knowing that there’s only 8 members now. It’s a feeling that pulls at my KPOP heart.

3. Lim Jeong Hee ft Jo Kwon – 헤어지러 가는 길 (On the way to Break Up)

It’s been some emotionally-themed songs so far for Shuffle-It Sunday this week, and with all the bad news that fans can’t help but recently be reminded of for 2014 KPOP, I guess the tunes fit well. Here’s to a better outro for the year, and if not, then may 2015 bring KPOP fans more happiness.

4. Outsider – 외톨이 (Loner)

And the mood continues…

5. Bangtan Boys – Danger

And my iTunes’ mood has changed! I don’t want to be a 누나 팬 (noona fan) but BTS is slowly trying to break that part of me. If you remember me mentioning last time, I’m huge on hip-hop and R&B music in KPOP thanks to 1TYM and Big Bang and BTS reminds me so much of them. But most of all, I like all of the members’ personalities. They’re such dorks, it’s adorable.

왜 나를 시험해… 다들 상남자 이다! 정말 멋있어요!

6. Jay Chou – 飘移 (Drift)

One of my all-time favorite Asian pop artists!

7. Yoseob & Drama – 첫 눈 그리고 첫 키스 (First Snow, First Kiss)

The way the weather is now, here in Minnesota, I won’t be surprised if we get a white Halloween this year. I don’t think winter here will live up to how romantic this song is though. And once again, DTMN where are you?! Yoseob, you’re voice is always beautiful.

8. JJ Lin – 期待你的爱 (Waiting for Your Love)

Where is this guy too?! JJ’s voice is so beautiful!

9. After School – Someone is You

I like After School’s system and their concept of “graduation” but I can’t help think about old members and miss them as a part of the group, especially Kahi. She was my favorite member.

10. Fahrenheit – 傻傻的勇氣 (Foolish Courage)

If anything, the instruments incorporated into this song is what won me over. This group will forever be at the top of my list for mandopop boy bands. I don’t even know any of the recent ones, excluding the ones thrown into the industry by KPOP companies. And the drama that turned me into a Fahrenheit fangirl, the Taiwanese adaptation of Hana Kimi, will always hold a special place in my heart, although I will never ever watch it ever again.

And that brings us to a close! So many good songs came out from the shuffle this week! I hope you all found something new to listen to!

Shuffle-It Sunday

Sorry for missing out on last week’s Shuffle-It Sunday! Here are the 15 songs for this week! Hope you all find something new to listen to! Enjoy!

1. Infinite – 붙박이 별 (Fixed Star)

I first discovered Infinite through YouTube browsing (which is how I tend to discover a lot of new groups, or groups that I haven’t heard of before). The first song I heard from them was She’s Back, and I loved how they sounded. I went through an Infinite phase for a good week, and I remember smiling to myself once they became a group who’s fame soon spread throughout the world.

2. Big Bang – Cafe

This song threw me off so bad. The beat is definitely a Big Bang feel, but the way they sang the song was something new for me. Their Tonight album is definitely going to remain a classic Big Bang album; heck all Big Bang albums could probably be considered classics.

3. 2NE1 – In the Club (DJ Jonray Remix)

This is a beautiful remix for a beautiful song.

4. The Legend – 미.남 (미련이 남아서) Left Out

If you haven’t checked out our review yet for this song, then make sure you do so to see what our thoughts are on this song! Overall, it’s a great listen.

5. Super Junior – M – S.O.L.O

I didn’t watch the drama (Taiwanese dramas are a bit hard for me to get around to) but I loved the soundtracks, especially this one. It’s got an addictive tune.

6. Henry – Fantastic

Violin, that’s all I have to say about this song. And Henry’s unique vocals.

7. Fahrenheit – 心裡有數 (In Our Hearts We Know)

The only Taiwanese drama I really got into was Hana Kimi, but I could never bring myself to watch it again. Once was enough for me. At my age now, the drama makes me cringe, but I’d like to keep my good memories of enjoying the drama and the Chun-Ella moments. The drama did also, after all, introduce me to Fahrenheit and S.H.E, two very talented Mandopop groups I would have regretted missing out on.

8. Aaron Yan – 多餘的我 (The Unwanted Love)

When this song first came on during the drama (which was almost immediately) I nearly died waiting for it to be released. It felt like forever, and when it was finally released, I downloaded it immediately and it’s been on repeat multiple times, despite it having been maybe a month now.

9. Yoo Seung Eun ft Baechigi – Be OK

This is such a chill song, and I love Baechigi, although now I am excited to see what else Seung Eun will bring in the future.

10. Girl’s Generation – Baby Maybe

I’m not too fond of GG’s title songs, although there have been some that stuck with me. But I will always love their slowed down songs with a simple beat like this. To me, it sounds so much more beautiful than their title tracks, but you need an upbeat song to promote most of the time anyway, especially if you’re a performance group.

11. Edward Jeon – Give My Love

This was the only drama that my older brother sat through and watched. He suggested it to me, and being as that he wasn’t a fan of Korean dramas, I thought I’d give it a try. I couldn’t bring myself to watch it. I didn’t like how Eugene’s character was and… I don’t know, there was something about the drama that just didn’t sit well with me. It’s just my preference though. I’m not going to deny that it was probably one of the biggest Korean dramas of all time, not to mention it brought together Ji Sung and Lee Bo Young.

12. Seung Ri – Strong Baby

This song had me hooked on Seung Ri for quite some time. But, as always, it didn’t last and I moved on. But I still enjoy listening to this song and just randomly dancing to it, and mind you the dances I brought out probably did not match the song at all. Anyway, here’s to a speedy recovery for Big Bang’s baby.

13. Park Bo Young – Free Time

I just love Park Bo Young. She’s adorable and a wonderful actress.

14. CN Blue – Hey You

After seeing them live twice now, CN Blue definitely has a special place in our fangirl hearts. I’m still crying over those drum sticks that Min Hyuk gave away (just kidding). If Ticketmaster hadn’t glitched, Darice and I could have gotten P1 tickets, and then we could have been near the stage entrance, and we could have had a chance. But, let me not fret over it anymore. It’s a dangerous place to go as a fangirl. I’m trying to keep myself content just listening to their music and seeing them from a distance like a normal fan.

15. Bangtan Boys – Let Me Know

Okay, I know there are three songs in the video, but I figured that since we ended on such a beautiful song, I should just include a live of the three best songs (in my opinion) off of the album. Besides, BTS is just beautiful to watch live. Again, thanks to KCON for changing the fangirl in me. I’ve become a bit more desperate, it seems, to get close to them, but I shall resist as much as I can. I don’t have the time and dedication like other fangirls to get too invested in this. Anyway, if you haven’t already, check out their shout out to Minnesota fans via our blog!

Again, I hope you all found something new to listen to, or maybe just a flashback to a classic. Until next time!

Bangtan Boys – Danger

Finally! We have reached the review for this song! Let’s just start! Here’s our review for Bangtan Boys – Danger!

This song is just all over the place, and not in a messy way either. It was done very neatly; extremely neatly. Whoever wrote the song threw us into an addicting beat, gave us Rap Mon’s beautiful rap that always goes hard, then we moved right into Jung Kook’s smooth rap, followed by Jin’s smooth vocals, then Jimin’s power vocals, then into a very, very smooth chorus via Jung Kook, V, and Jimin, and then V’s power voice; we get like a two second break before we get to hear J-Hope and Suga with their frustration-filled rap, and then it’s right back to the hectic chorus. As run on of a sentence as that was, take away all the commas and whatever grammar I used in that sentence, and you have BTS’ song; and that’s the positive to having multiple members in a group. You can have them following one right after another and still have the energy it takes to carry out their beautiful choreography. Of course my favorite part was the extremely catchy chorus, although I loved the electric guitar going on during Jung Kook’s and Suga’s rap; I also found that I really liked Suga’s part in this song as well. Oh! Jimin’s “헷갈리게 하지마 (Don’t confuse me)” too! And while we’re on the topic of lyrics, I could not stop hearing “왜 나를 시험해 (Why are you testing me)” as “Why not; is she a man?” Anyway… this song just hits all the right spots. Of course we all know that Taemin made his solo debut at the same time that BTS made their comeback, and both chose a song titled Danger as their promotional song. I don’t know about you guys, but I much prefer BTS’ Danger over Taemin’s, not to say that I don’t support Taemin. BTS’ is just more appealing to me, song wise and concept wise.

The music video was simply done, and that’s that.

Overall score; 10. I knew I was going to like the songs via the teasers, but not to this extent. I can’t even describe the extent that I’m referring to. KCON probably had something to do with why I liked the song so much. Seeing a group live can change your opinions so fast. I didn’t know the members at all when I left for KCON. I don’t know when it happened, but it was during that weekend; all of a sudden I got BTS’ names down and I could put the names to faces. If you haven’t listened to this song yet (who hasn’t?!) then you’re missing out! I wish they would have won No. 1 on a music show at least once because these last two promotional songs of theirs were really good. Even though they didn’t win No. 1, they did sweep up a lot of awards, so here’s to hoping they sweep up some more awards this year!

Oh, and if you haven’t already, check out BTS’ shoutout to us Minnesota fans at .

MKF, 방탄소년단 Shout Out to Minnesota, and Other Updates

Well, it’s been quite awhile, hasn’t it? As you can all assume, school has started up again, and I’m finally working on my courses for my major, which are basically all writing intensive courses, which requires a lot of reading as well, hence no spare time. BUT, I have made some time today, and I will try and catch up on a lot of things.

Firstly, I’d like to apologize for missing out on Shuffle-It Sunday and Watch-It Wednesday this week for anyone who was looking forward to it. Of course, I will do my utmost to post them next week, with 15 songs for Shuffle-It Sunday.

Second, I have started to fall back on reviews again, but I will also do my best to catch up again. I’m not too far behind yet, so please expect some new posts going up soon!

And, finally, the most important and exciting part of this post today; Minnesota had their first KPOP Festival (to the best of my knowledge; if we’re wrong, please correct us) just this past Wednesday, September 10! Unfortunately, despite the Minnesota KPOP Festival (MKF) being right at the heart of the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (Minneapolis) campus, which is where I’m currently an undergrad at, I failed to attend. It was held at the Coffman Memorial Union building, which is kind of where I live during the school year (I work at the bookstore there, and it’s my favorite place to study at during the evening). We would like to give a big round of applause to the Minnesota KPOP Dance Crew (MKDC) for hosting the event, and from what I’ve heard, it was very successful. Unfortunately, due to the limit of space, there was a cap off of 1000 entries. I’m not sure if 1000 fans were in attendance (it sure felt like it) but here’s to hoping that they take this as a boost to their confidence and host another one next year, and make it even bigger! I can’t guarantee I will make it, but I will put in the best effort to attend!

We want to give an even bigger thank you to the president of MKDC for their effort in giving the fans a gift and BigHit Entertainment for making it happen through a shout out video via Bangtan Boys (BTS). Most KPOP idols probably don’t even know that Minnesota exists and many would have probably ignored us, but I hope BigHit Entertainment and BTS knows how much it means to us fans here in Minnesota that they took 2 minutes of their time just to send us a video. Thank you MKDC president (I will find out your name eventually), and thank you BigHit Entertainment and BTS! You guys forever have our support!

Oh, and I thought I was over this emotional fangirl phase because I’ve been in KPOP since the Shinhwa and S.E.S days. I usually don’t fret over boy bands, but, after KCON, I’ve started to realize that BTS is doing something to me. They definitely have their own touch, but sometimes, I feel like I’m seeing a younger version of 1TYM and Big Bang in them, which are my two ultimate KPOP boy groups of all time… 야! 방탄소년단! 왜 나를 시험해?! 헷갈리게 하지마!

Here’s the shout out video that many fans will come to cherish here, in Minneapolis, Minnesota! And you’ve got to love their wonderful pronunciation! Once again, thank you MKDC for the wonderful event and your efforts to give us fans a memorable gift!

KCON 2014

First off, I’d like to apologize for forgetting to post up Shuffle It Sunday, for any of you who follow it. I will gladly do another 15 song shuffle next Sunday to make up for it! It’s been a really hectic weekend for me, and I will update you about that on our Spontaneous Saturday post coming this weekend!

Now, let’s get some KCON information out to those of you who follow us! KCON released the fourth artist line up and ticket information in their most recent live update. KCON’s fourth artist to be invited is none other than the beloved IU! So far, the line up has not been a disappointment, with BTS, GG, and CN BLUE announced beforehand, not that it’s likely we’ll have any that will devastate us.

If you visit http://kconusa.com/ you can find more information about the benefits of the different ticket levels, as well as a general map of the seats. That is where you’ll also go to purchase tickets once they go on sale. Here, we’ll just tell you price and time of sale.

As you all know, KCON announced earlier that they’ll be hosting not one, but TWO concerts this August. That means double the artists! In order to attend both concerts though, you will need to purchase two tickets. And if you’re getting a ticket for each night, you might as well purchase their combo package, which saves you anywhere between $30-$100, depending on the ticket you buy.

P1: $400 | P2: $320 | P3: $225 | P4: $140 | P5: $70

The combo ticket packages start going on sale on June 27.

Below are the ticket prices for single ticket purchases. These will start going on sale on June 30.

P1: $250 | P2: $200 | P3: $150 | P4: $100 | P5: $50

There’s about a month left only before KCON is here! Who’s excited, because I know we are!

KCON 2014

Alright! The most looked forward to event is just two months away! That’s right! KCON 2014! If you haven’t been following along, KCON has plans for, not one, but TWO concerts! And yes, you read that right; TWO CONCERTS! Wow! One for each night. They just revealed the first line up, which is, of course, the underdogs that shook up the KPOP scene during 2014, Bulletproof Boys, or better known as BTS! And right next to them is… GIRL’S GENERATION! Honestly, we’re not too big on SNSD, but we still like them. Who’s hoping for a 2PM surprise as well?

No release on prices yet, although it was $3oo last year for a VIP1 ticket, so being as there are going to be two concerts, unless they’re charging each concert separately, I’d say VIP1 this year might be around $400-$500. Save, international fans, and make things possible! When will you get to go to two KPOP concerts within the same weekend ever again? When we went to KCON 2013, we were not impressed with the convention at all; it was very unorganized and there wasn’t much to do. But, the concert was well worth it. Unfortunately, due to flight issues, we were unable to stay for G-Dragon’s performance (ㅠㅠ) but we are making sure that this year, we can stay throughout the entire concert. Follow @kconusa on Twitter for updates, and sign up for KCON’s newsletters for updates as well!

Shuffle It Sunday

Check out this week’s Shuffle It Sunday for something new to listen to!

– Zoey

1. CN Blue – Why

2. J.Lim ft Rap Monster & Jung Hun Chul – Ashes

Okay, someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but was this before BTS’s debut? If it is, then wow, I can’t believe that I am only noticing it now. Well, it has been a really, really long time since I’ve listened to this song… but still! I think it’ll be awhile before I get over this surprise.

3. Sandara Park ft CL – Kiss

4. Zeal – Yoot Ruk Yang Ngai (What Can I Do)

I rarely listen to Thai songs, but there’s something about this one. And I enjoyed watching the lakorn, Raeng Pradtana. If you have time, take a step out of the Korean drama world and try setting foot in the Thai lakorn world. It’s not as addicting in my opinion, but you’re bound to find one that you’ll like.

5. Teen Top – Be Ma Girl

6. Jo Kwon – Lipstick

When this guy sings, I completely forget about his variety persona.

7. B2ST – Oasis

8. B2ST – Lights Go On Again

Must be a BEAST week. iTunes playing B2ST songs one right after the other.

9. Jung Dong Ha – Mystery

Apparently my iTunes knows how to bully me, reminding me what I missed because I chose not to go to KMF 2014 and missed this awesome singer last night. I want to cry! Anyway, this was from our first Watch It Wednesday, and I feel like this song was on a previous Shuffle It Sunday already. Oh well, it’s a good song. Check out the drama, The Master’s Sun, when you have time too!

10. U-Kiss – Some Day

Another repeat! With over 700 songs, you’d think iTunes would be able to shuffle to songs that haven’t been played recently. Oh well. It is a good song anyway. Enjoy!
